So Thai Spa owner explains unusual strategy

Despite being majority Thai owned and Thai managed, So Thai Spa first opened in London, UK, and subsequently expanded (backwards) in Bangkok, Thailand. Siratikarn Lohasarn, Director of So Thai Spa, explained that their plan is to "...use our experiences of managing a spa in the London market to bring a fusion spa concept to Bangkok, combining the best elements of the spa industries of the East and West."

Thailand Records Massage World Record

As part of a Thai government effort to further promote Thailand's already famous massage and spa industry, a new world record for mass-massage was achieved in Thailand. The event involved 641 massage therapists simultaneously performing massage treatment to 641 (lucky) people.
Many Thai people work as massage therapists, all over the country but especially in Bangkok and the other tourist areas. The Thai government is keen to continue to attract visitors from around the world to the kingdom, to enjoy the benefits of the kingdom's world leading massage and spa industry.

Tourism in Thailand up by 31%

According to the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports, tourism revenue grew by 31% from 2010 to 2011. As well as higher tourist numbers, the average stay in the kingdom also increased as did the average daily expenditure.
Even in these times of global economic uncertainty, Bangkok and the rest of Thailand continues to be a popular tourist destination for people from all around the world, who come to Thailand for the great choice of hotels, restaurants, spas, temples, beaches, etc.

Bangkok is World's Best City

Travel+Leisure magazine has recognised Bangkok as the "World’s Best City" for the third consecutive year, with results based on an online survey comprising of six criteria: sights, culture & arts, restaurants & food, people, shopping, and value.
Many other destinations in Thailand were also ranked highly by the survey including the islands of Phuket and Ko Samui, both of which are islands in the south that are easily accessible from Bangkok.
